Much has been happening behind the scenes in Kirkby Lonsdale since the tragic events of last December when we lost a fellow business owner as well as many residential and commercial properties.
Whilst the scaffolding remains a constant reminder of the devastation caused by the fire, many of the affected businesses on Main Street have been rehoused and are either trading again or about to reopen. The County Council has promised that the road will be reopened within a month which will allow traffic to flow through the town once again. A significant increase in promoting Kirkby Lonsdale through social media, magazine & radio advertising should raise the profile and hopefully, encourage more visitors to our beautiful town!
Alongside these practical measures, Kirkby Lonsdale businesses have created a new symbol to signify their ‘rebirth’ and to embody our community’s strength and unity following the recent tragedy; the BLACK HARE
As a symbol of rebirth, transformation and bringers of great luck & prosperity, hares are said to have the wisdom of the ages and are loved and respected by all.
With St Valentine’s Day approaching, the town’s retailers are taking part in a shop window competition incorporating the Black Hare symbol.
