Here we offer lightweight metal, decorative enamel combined with inspirational design, served on a plate! This Ottoman pattern plate is just what you need for al fresco occasions or within the home, maybe to serve dessert or for afternoon teas.

This design featuring parrots was created in the late 16th century in the Ottoman town of Iznik near the southern coast of the Sea of Marmar. (It was previously known as Nicea, where the ecumenical Councils established the fundamental tenets of Christianity – The Nicene Creed – 325 AD)

Between the 15th and 17th centuries, the town was renowned for producing highly decorative ceramics with vibrant lead glazed colours. This design, featuring a pair of fine parrots flanking a fountain, displays the characteristic blue, green and red colour palette.

This design is part of the collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. You can find out more about the Fitzwilliam Collection here.

As well as this Ottoman pattern plate for your picnic, you may need napkins or cutlery, also available from Abrahams Store.
