Summer News from the Store
Regular readers of our blog Stories from the store, may be wondering why we have been so quiet this year and why we haven’t posted any news since November. Sadly, 2022 started off very badly for our family.
Back in January, our eighteen-year-old daughter Georgie had a serious car accident. She was cut from the vehicle, placed in an induced coma and air-lifted to hospital with severe trauma to the brain. Our world stopped at that moment…
It is now seven months later, and we are thrilled and amazed to see how well Georgie has recovered. She is now back at home, has got back into a (new!) car and has started back at her job as receptionist at the prestigious Hipping Hall Hotel. Although she still has a way to go with her recovery, we couldn’t have wished for a better result. The care, love and support showed by all the hospital staff, therapists, family and friends, has been an overwhelming experience for us all.
Now that life is slowly returning to normal, we can concentrate full-time on Abrahams!
With everything that’s been going on ‘behind the scenes’, we’ve been pleasantly surprised at how busy the store has been. We have had a great reaction this season to all our clothing brands. The core designers we stock have consistently created the right looks for our clients.
The Barbour and Barbour International ranges for men and women get better each season with styles that are spot on trend. Our two strongest women’s brands, OUI and Vilagallo have yet again produced stunning collections with beautiful knitwear and colourful prints. Menswear sales have been brisk too with our R2Amsterdam linen shirts being particularly popular.
We know the consistency of these brand names help to attract people to our Kirkby Lonsdale store. But we also feel that the work we do to uncover smaller suppliers, some new to the UK, has added a unique, colourful contrast to those big brands.
A typical example of this, are some lovely accessory companies that are new this season. From Thailand we’ve sourced gorgeous, embroidered bags. And direct from California, Nail & Bone – a range of funky nail polishes that are also available from our online shop. Their range is salon quality, vegan and cruelty free with some of the proceeds going to charities. Both ranges are exclusive to Abrahams in the UK.
