Here’s our collection of stunningly bright and ‘different’ Puddin’head Placemats & Coasters; a range from Australian designer Richard McAdam.

Playfully named Puddin’head is the creation of Richard McAdam, the Sydney based print maker and illustrator. After graduating from Sydney’s prestigious National Art School, Richard embarked on a mission to make original designs ordinarily found in a gallery accessible to all and relevant in everyday life. Devoted to producing work outside modern manufacturing practices. Instantly recognisable, his work depicts strong, dignified images of animals, insects and people and his sources of inspiration are diverse. Many of his characters are dreamed up from his avid reading of classical books, and have a mythical, surreal quality. Common throughout his work is an underlying humour and charisma.

Richard’s inspiration is apparently also drawn from the following; “Mexican wrestlers, Oskar Kokoschka, Wes Anderson, Banksy, Saul Bass, Rosalie Gascoigne, Peter Sellers, Tim Burton, David Byrne.” He would also like as guests at his fantasy dinner party Groucho Marx, Hunter S. Thompson, both the Francis Bacons, Stephen Fry, Beck, Dorothy Parker & Christopher Walken. A warning for Richard though; Dorothy Parker, once when asked if she would like another drink observed that “one more and I’ll be under the table, two more and I’ll be under the host” …
No doubt the dinner party would feature the placemats and coasters from the Puddin’ Head collection.
