Here we offer lightweight metal, decorative enamel combined with inspirational design, served on a plate! This botanical pattern plate is just what you need for al fresco occasions or within the home, maybe to serve dessert or for afternoon teas.

This botanical design was originally created in the 1750s to decorate the products of the Chelsea Porcelain Manufactory (‘Manufactory’ later being abbreviated to Factory, in modern English). Along with the stylised butterfly the design features the Indian hemp plant.

This design is part of the collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. You can find out more about the Fitzwilliam Collection here.

Hemp has been used since ancient times as a really useful source of durable fibres for rope making. Apparently it also has certain ‘medicinal’ properties that has ensured its ongoing cultivation despite the modern trend for synthetic fibres in ropemaking.

As well as this Botanical pattern plate for your picnic, you may need napkins or cutlery, also available from Abrahams Store.

At Abrahams Store we are on a mission to find the most unusual, colourful or elegant items we can and offer them to you at good prices combined with excellent customer service. We think these plates offer durability, elegance and more than a bit of colour. These products measure 26 centimetres or around 10¼” across.
