Ortigia Melograno Soap on a Plate

Ortigia Melograno Soap on a Plate

£28.00 inc VAT

This gift set includes a beautiful square plate in lilac with a block of Ortigia Soap, delivered in a highly decorated box.

Out of stock

The Ortigia Melograno Soap on a plate is made of pure vegetable glycerine; wonderfully translucent, naturally coloured, and richly fragranced with pomegranate served on a beautifully etched glass plate protected by a lovely gift box. The fragrance is a soft cool powdery scent: pure and alluring. Although it looks good enough to eat, that is not recommended at all.

Apples with seeds

The Melograno (italian for seeded apple) or pomegranate  (old french for many seeded apple) is cultivated in the mediterannean area and has been since ancient times.  Harvesting the fruit takes place during the autumn and winter months. The farmers often have to climb more than 20 ft high to reach the top of these huge trees. High in anti-oxidants and at only around 65 calories per 100g, they are a really healthy food possessing rejuvinating properties. Why not have a look at what the Skinny Chef has to say by following this link. His view is that “mystery and myth has surrounded this fruit”.

Melograno Perfume

Ortigia Melograno was perhaps inspired by the Melograno perfume originally produced in 1965 by the church based perfumier at Santa Maria Novella in Florence which is open to the public and well worth a visit . The station of the same name is nearby but does not merit a visit other than a great way to get into central Florence or vice versa, to get to Fiesole or the Arno Valley (if you are not after the culture, there’s a significant top brands shopping village near Rignano Sull’Arno).
