I’ve never been a chocoholic, always preferring something savoury especially anything cheese related! However, there are exceptions…
When our eldest daughter Francesca took up her place at Leeds Art University a few years ago, she also took a Saturday job at Charbonnel et Walker in the Victoria Quarter. Being a very generous girl, she made sure we always had a plentiful supply of their utterly divine chocolates!
Charbonnel became Britain’s first luxury chocolatier when it was established in 1875. Madame Charbonnel was renowned for making the finest chocolates in Paris. She was introduced to Mrs Walker who was a maker of the finest jewellery and hat boxes in London. Together they opened their original shop in Bond Street, Mayfair and created the iconic brand that we know today.
Over the years famous customers have included Wallis Simpson, Princess Diana, Lauren Bacall, Noel Coward and more recently, Taylor Swift. In 1970 the company received the Royal Warrant to Queen Elizabeth 11, Her Majesty’s favourites being the glorious Rose & Violet Creams (& mine too!).
We are thrilled to announce that Abrahams has recently become a stockist of our favourite brand of chocolates. Our current truffle selection includes Pink Marc de Champagne, Sea Salt Caramels & Pistachio. We also have boxes of Fine Milk & Dark Chocolates & of course, delicious Rose & Violet Creams. We are expanding our range of chocolates to include several other popular flavours which will be available both at the store and in our online shop.
